Cooper Hewitt

Smithsonian Design Museum

The Cooper Hewitt Museum, initially dubbed the Cooper Union Museum for the Arts of Decoration, was founded in 1896 and, although it has changed over the years, it has also maintained its purpose and is currently the only American museum solely dedicated to historic and contemporary design.

With a fascinating permanent collection, unique temporary exhibitions, a thousand and one dynamic activities, workshops, lectures and family programs, the Cooper Hewitt Museum is indispensable for design lovers, providing them with a colorful, eclectic and vibrant experience, just as the city would have it. Among pieces of furniture, paintings, sculptures, tableware, mirrors, clothing and posters, if you think you've seen a little bit of everything, visit this museum and surprise yourself!

Cool Tip: You can retrieve your visit on the Museum’s site. Just type in your ticket code so that all the objects you collected and created during your visit are saved to your account and even shared publicly if you’re so inclined.
