Founded in 1893, the Brooklyn Museum brings together more than a million and a half pieces in its permanent exhibition and regularly hosts themed exhibitions. It’s the second largest art museum in New York and here you’ll find works from various eras.
Located in central Brooklyn, the Museum receives about 500,000 visitors a year, emphasizing the rich and curious heritage of many cultures from around the world. Its highlight goes to the ancient Egypt masterpieces, paintings from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, as well as some more contemporary pieces.
The Museum serves different audiences with excellence and still has some programs that challenge young people to not only become interested in the museology, but to work at the Brooklyn Museum during their free time – summer holidays or weekends – giving guided tours and contacting with visitors. It’s a museum that you’re going to want to visit and revisit, it’s super interesting for the entire family.
Cool Tip: During the summer, on the first Saturday of each month, the Museum is open late with free events for the whole family, including craft activities, live music and dance parties.
