When the Cheng sisters realized that they couldn’t find their mother’s food in New York without resorting to the secret recipes that she guarded so well, they decided to make their own dishes, drawing inspiration from the nutritious and organic meals they had eaten all their lives. And so, in honor of the woman who raised them and kept them from choosing less healthy meals when they left home, they opened Mimi Cheng's Dumplings.
The spot isn’t very big but the decor is pleasant, the service is efficient and attentive and the food is simple and tasty – Chinese food doesn’t have to be greasy or unhealthy. And it is within this genuine and family-oriented concept that their food is created every day.
The dumplings are stuffed with the finest ingredients, always fresh and carefully selected – we tried the chicken and pork dumplings and recommend both! – and the menu is varied and inviting, with its vegetarian options as well, delectable desserts and even healthy drinks, such as the delicious mint lemonade.
Mimi Cheng's Dumplings is a family business and this is obvious in the passion that is presented to us in every dish. Our mom’s cooking is the best in the world and Mimi Cheng's Dumplings is an ode to the way Asian mothers cook.
Cool Tip: If you’re looking for a place to hang out with friends and aren’t looking for unhealthy dishes, Mimi Cheng's Dumplings is the place to go.
